Jhonathan Miranda – Specialized Birding Guide
Jhonathan Miranda is a distinguished biologist from the Universidad Central de Venezuela, specializing in bird ecology. Born and raised in Venezuela, he has dedicated over 15 years to advancing evolutionary, ecological, and conservation projects while leading birding tours throughout Venezuela and the Neotropics.
Jhonathan has made significant contributions to the Venezuelan ornithology, including the discovery of nine species to the country, the rediscovery of the elusive Tachira Antpitta, and he is currently in the process of describing a new species for science. His commitment to the field is evident through his roles as coordinator of the Rarities Records Committee (CRAV), eBird reviewer for Venezuela, and a directive member of the Unión Venezolana de Ornitólogos (UVO). Additionally, he serves as co-coordinator for the “Species Lists of Birds for South American Countries and Territories” and as a technical advisor for “Vagrant and Hypothetical Species” with the South American Classification Committee (SACC). Jhonathan is also the creator and writer of the Venezuela Merlin packages. His passion for photography has further allowed him to showcase the unique beauty and rarity of Venezuela’s avian life to a global audience.
Jhonathan spends much of his time traveling across Venezuela, tirelessly recording, photographing, and researching the country’s diverse bird species, whether in easily accessible areas or more challenging terrains.

Born in Venezuela to Latvian descent, Astrida embodies the spirit of a true globetrotter and world citizen. From an early age, she knew that becoming a travel agent was her gateway to exploring the wonders of our planet. With over 30 years of experience, Astrida has expertly organized and led global expeditions that showcase both cultural and wildlife marvels across Asia, Africa, and South America.
Her travels sparked a deep passion for photography, leading her to be featured in several prestigious exhibitions worldwide. Captivated by the wilderness, Astrida dedicated herself to sharing the world’s natural beauty and wonders across Africa and Venezuela.
